World's fastest high speed train 380A rolls off production line in China
It's becoming clear that China is on its way to total high-speed rail domination. The country is building the world's largest network of high-speed rail and along with that ambitious plan, China has just debuted the world's fastest train.
The new 380A train, also called He Xie, can reach speeds up to 380 km/h (236 mph) a full 30km/hr faster than the next fastest train in the world which also runs on the High Speed Chinese rail network. The new train will start running in 2011 on a line between Beijing to Shanghai that is currently under construction. When that line is completed, the 380A train will be able to make the trip in less than four hours.
On March 16, China's Ministry of Railways signed a contract to buy 100 new generation trains from China CNR Corp.
High speed trains with the maximum operating speed of 350 km have been running on three lines that link Beijing and Tianjin, Wuhan and Guangzhou, Zhengzhou and Xi'an.
