Countdown to the start of the Le Mans 24 Hours, the most prestigious endurance race in motor sport, which this year reaches its 78th running. The race starts on Saturday 12 June at 15.00 and this year’s programme organised by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest includes “Le Mans vers le future,” an initiative that pits the most innovative of current cars against the legendary 13.629 km French circuit.
The event took place on Thursday 10 and Saturday 12, with two demonstrations in which the Maranello marque was represented by a decidedly innovative car, even if it is not entered in the event: the non-homologated and high-tech sports car, conceived by Ferrari exclusively for track use which can be regarded as a genuine running technological laboratory car.
At the wheel was Jean Alesi, who drove in Formula 1 for the Scuderia from 1991 to 1995, who along with Giancarlo Fisichella and Finnish champion Toni Vilander who tackled the 24 Hours in one of two F430 (number 95) entered by the AF Corse team. The other car (96) entered by the team from Piacenza will be driven by the crew of Luis Perez Companc, Matias Russo and Mika Salo. Also fighting for the win among the 18 cars in the GT2 class will be the two Risi Competizione Ferraris (82-83) and one entered by the German Hankook Team Farnbacher (89.)
