Work had not been done on crash plane

The Air Accidents inquiry Branch in the UK has revealed safety maintenance work was not completed on a airplane whose nose landing gear collapsed as it touched down at London City Airport.

The occurrence, on 13th February 2009, involved a British Airways Avro 146 jet, carrying 67 passengers, which landed with a exhaustion crack in its landing gear.

The gear, which cracked on touchdown, had been in for security improvements which had been left incomplete, even though records at the American preservation firm where the work was carried out showed a end tick.

The Air plane Accidents Investigation Branch also found that the nose-gear on the airplane collapsed and penetrated the fuselage on landing.

British Airways has guaranteed passengers that maintenance has been tightened since the collide.
