Two Britons were killed in French car crash



AUCH, France — Four people were killed, two from Britain, in an accident in southwest France when two cars collided head-on on a nation road, firefighters said Saturday.

A 34-year-old mother and her three-month-old baby from the Gers region and the British driver of one of the cars, who had been living in Beaumarches for many years, died on the place, firefighters and the Depeche du Midi newspaper said.

The Briton's traveler, a visiting friend from Scotland, died in an ambulance. The two were in their sixties.

Police were investigating what caused the car accident late Friday on a directly road near Beaumarches.

It took firefighters two hours to get out the four from the cars.
